Difference bewteen '88 TPI and '89 TPI?

I have a chance to buy AS&M runners, fully ported plenum and 52MM throttle body. The runners and plenum are for an '89 TPI. The guy who is selling this stuff has a friend with an '88 Corvette who also wants this stuff. I told him the runners and plenum will not work because of the ninth injector and the plenum is slightly different.

Am I correct?

Yes and no. You could run without the ninth injector although cold starting may pose a slight prob. You could just get the 89 chip (ARAP) and do away with the extra injector altogether.
