What sort of things should I look for. My car starts really hard and it won't actualy start until the oil pressure climbs, so I've been trying to find the fuel pump relay. I've found the relay's, I just don't know which one is for the fuel pump.

When it does finally start, if you give it too much gas too quickly (which isn't that much) it will backfire through the intake. Until the car warms up. Also, I was driving the car after I put my MSD6A in and it backfired out of the exhaust and then sputtered and died. I let the car sit for like 10 mins and then started it and drove a block and it did the same thing. I then let it sit for about 30 mins, fiddled with some of the wiring harness wires from the MSD and I found a loose one, so i pushed it back up in there and it started and ran fine the rest of the way home. If any of those harness wires touch each other could it do that? Or if I have the harness wires routed over the coil? I made sure to split #5 and #7 plug wires up. I'm a little baffled.

The car has a different cam. I don't know the specs, but I've also got alot of valvetrain noise and an exhaust leak at the manifolds. So I don't know if I've crused a lifter or not. The car also has World S/R heads, and is not the original motor. The car is an 86 and was supposed to be the LG4, but it's a TPI 350.

Sorry for making this so long, but if anybody could point me in the right direction of the backfire problems and the fuel pump relay that'd be great cause I've been stumped for quite some time now. Thanks!!!

i know someone who had similar symptoms, the msd6a he had was the problem!!!
