Fuel Pressure and Emissions
Fuel Pressure and Emissions
Hi,
did a search and couldn't find a simple answer and haven’t posted here for along time. My fuel pressure is set to 48 psi on my 1991 Z28 5.7L. The smog and registration is due tomorrow. Last time it barely passed. It is in immaculate condition inside and out. It is not a daily driver and spends most of it's time covered up in the garage. I also have MSD 6AL (4800rpm module), MSD Blaster Coil, MSD 8.5mm wires. I only drive it maybe 100 miles a year. The timing is set back to stock after the last smog. Will the increased fuel pressure cause higher emissions when smoged? Should I set the pressure back to stock?
Thanks for the help. Oscar.

Re: Fuel Pressure and Emissions
i think im having a fuel pressure problem. how do you check this, fix this, and set the pressure to where you want it?
Re: Fuel Pressure and Emissions
you have to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the schrader valve on the injector rail, then turn the key to so the fuel pump activates, then see your reading. The stock fuel pressure regulator is not adjustable so you need to replace it with an adjustable one. Then you adjust check, and adjust until you get the reading you want.
