OK. Pop in all your pushrods and get the rockers on there and start the nuts on there but don't run them down.
The rule of thumb is Intake Opening Exhaust Closing (IOEC)
Pick a cylinder, lets say #1.
when you see the intake pushrod for #1 start moving up. Stop turning the motor (Use a breaker bar and 5/8 socket, with the plugs out this isn't hard to turn over. Even with them in it could be done)
OK. tighten down the Exhaust rocker nut while spinning the pushrod for it. As soon as you feel resistance (pushrod stops spinning) give the exhaust nut 1/4 to 1/2 a turn and tighten down the lock with the allen key.
Now start turning oven the motor again until the exhaust pushrod comes ALL THE WAY UP and just starts to go down. Do the INTAKE the same way (1/4 to 1/2 turn and lock it).
Do all the cylinders in the same manner. If you're confused on whats the intake or exhaust look to see whats inline with that rocker (An intake port or a port off the header)
There are easier and quicker ways to do this, but this method is foolproof and easy to understand.
Try to keep all your tightening the same. Go with 1/4 turn past zero lash and keep it throughout all them. If you go 1/2 do all them 1/2.

with your intake off is easier all you have to do is make sure the intake valve lifter for the one you're adjusting is seated all the way in the bore than follow the previous instructions that way you will see which ones you can work on you'll be able to do 8 of the 16 pushrods before you have to spin the motor 180 degrees.i pretty sure they outline what valves you can work on in a chilton manual i.e 1,3,5,7 intakes 2,3,5,8 exhausts
