13.7 at 107 mph?

I don't know much about the relationship between 1/4 times and mph, but doesn't 107 mph seem a little high for running a 13.7? I did this on Z-rated tires. Before my k&n airfilters, gutted airboxes, tb coolant bypass, and rebuilt tranny w/higher stall converter, I ran a best 13.6 at I think 102 on drag radials. What should I be running if I have traction? BTW, I don't have 60 ft times because I did this with a G-Tech. So, I'm not totally relying on this to be 100% accurate, but it's better than nothing so lets assume it is pretty close!

I'm no expert but 107 thru the traps is flying and probably a low 13, high 12 second pass. I ran 13.81@98mph in my old L98 equipped 89RS. 1.968 60ft and almost no wheel spin.
You gotta get some traction man!
I have heard with a G-Tech if you spin the tires at the line it will screw up the final mile per hour, maybe thats part of the problem.

Subtract about 6 mph when you use a G-Tech, it takes actual speed through the traps, tracks take an average speed from the last (100 feet ??) not the trap speed. Sounds like your perfect though.

Read your instructions!

GTech calculates the real speed at the end of the quarter mile, while a drag strip averages your speed over the last 100 ft.

The times on GTech are a lot closer to what you'll run at the strip than the speeds.

Spinning the tires won't affect it. It's an accelerometer - when you're spinning the tires, you're not accelerating as fast.

Hmmmmm....That's interesting. I was reading in the G-Tech manual and it says it has an accuracy on the mph of within 3 mph. So maybe I'd be running 104 or so. I think I would be more apt to believe that...I think I should be running low, low 13's with what I have done to her. What do yall think?

Oh yeah. I'm sorry! Here they are:

ZZ4 Crate Motor (20k on it)
Rebuilt 700R4 w/aftermarket stall, transgo shiftkit, Billet Servo (200 miles on it)
Edelbrock headers
hi flow cat
flowmaster
custom chip
k&n airfilters, gutted airboxes
tb airfoil, tb coolant bypass
24# fuel injectors

I can't think of anything else.
Anyway, the downsides are no a/c and 2.73 gears.

With 2.73 gears, you have the power to get the speed/MPH, but not enough gear to pull the car all the way through the power band and torque curve to achieve the low E/T.

A 3.73 gear will pull you MPH down a little but your E/T will go up, provided you have the traction in the 60ft.

BTW, the G-Tech pro is a piece of garbage. Too many variables.

For $130 it's pretty good. Especially if you live in Northern Canada and the Drag strips around you are only open a few times year.

Set up correctly, it's good for a tenth or two accuracy and is consistent. You just have to set it up right.

107 is usually a low 13, but the G-Tech usually is about 4-6 mph high. You will probably hit 103-104 in the 1/4.

im running real low 13.8s at about 99-100MPH. G-tech adds about 5 mph so drop that off ur trap speed and that puts ur speed at the right spot for ur ET.

Jeez...it just sux though cuz I know I can go faster than that. I think I am gonna have to get some more nittos and try and pull a low 13 second pass. I got a 13.6 before quite a few of my mods and it feels quicker now anyway. On top of that I would like to do a ram air setup soon! :0) I am wanting 12's so bad, I can taste it!!!

I hope you realize that there isn't a true correlation between ET & mph? We can only speculate or take it to the strip. My Formula's best ET is 13.94, but at a pokey 96.6 mph, and I don't belive it has ever cracked 97 mph! That is on Nitto's though.

I took the G-tech to the strip in my dad's GN and ran it simotaniously. It was only .05 seconds off. The MPH was two MPH higher on the G-Tech than the strip reportings. I have great confidence in the G-Tech now.
