Would it be possible to install headers for an '84 on an '87 TPI.

Here are the ones for an ;84

and these are for an '87:

It looks like I can remove the stove/heater thing, use an elbow on the drivers side air tube, but what about the Y? It seems like the shape may be the same but the joints are in diff places. Does anyone know if this will be an issue?

Thanks

If no one responds, try the exhaust forum.

Aside from the heat stove connection, the Y pipe should be the same shape, just the outlet is 2.25" instead of 3".

Also, the 84 Y pipe most likely incorporates the use of the vacuum controlled flapper valve on the passenger side that helps the carburated cars warm up faster.

the LG-4 84 system was 2.25 ... The L-69's was 3 inch ... the flapper thing can be replaced with the non flapper spacer.

Why dont you get a set of Dyno Don's headers instead? Much better than that crappy Edelbrock junk.

Kevin, if the car was still mine I'd def get Don's headers but I gave it to my brother. He wants headers but he's also on a tight budget.

Tell him to save his money then. Edelbrock headers are crap. Get Hooker 2055's instead. There's no such thing as modding a car on a tight budget. You'll get nickel and dime'd to death.
