Tearing off the top half of my motor.. tips?
Well, my heads (L98) should be here monday, or tuesday. So, Im going to tear the Plenum, runner, and intake off tomarrow. All my work was always done on carbed motors, so this is my first attempt at TPI!
So, is there any tips anyone has? I wont be doing this alone, but, I dont want to screw anything up on accident, just because I didnt know!
Im planning on porting and polishing my plenum and runners, and tackling siamesing the intake as well.
Well, its late, and Im getting tired! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just did what your are about to do.
I took of my carb, intake, and heads.
I put on the 87 TPI heads, and waiting on a few parts to arrive so that I can start to put the TPI on.
The only tip I can think of now is to make sure you organize all of your bolts, since you will have a whole bunch lying around.
When you put your head bolts on, clean them off and use thread compound on the end of the bolts to keep water in the block from seeping out around the bolts. I don't remember what the compound is called, I didn't use any, but I don't plan on keeping my 305 block for long. I am just trying to make the TPI setup work, then I'll be searching for a 350 block to assemble and drop into my car.

Use some masking tape and a marker and label all of the connections. Use Teflon sealer on the head bolts in the water jackets and on the intake bolts.
Make sure you clean all of the shavings out of the heads real good, sometimes machine shops don't do a good job.
