Go to the Tech/General Engine board and ask New87. He's got an LT1 cam in his 305 and dropped a good chunk from his times. The cam fits just fine, distributor drive and all. Just remember to adjust the drive dowel to the correct depth for the older engine. Usually you can just tap the dowel farther into the recess to fit the old cam sprocket and still clear the timing cover.

On some of the LT1 cams the dowel sticks out about .600"and all you have to do is tap it back into the cam so that it is sticking out about .300"like the L98 cam.If you can't tap it in far enough, then you can grind it down till you reach the .300".

I'm running an LT1 cam in my L98 with 1.6 roller tips.Like the other guys said,it's a direct swap except for the dowel pin being .300" too long.

Like Vader said I did the swap in my LB9. Now I run 14.6 @ 93 mph. Before the swap I was running 15.4 @ 87mph as a best and 15.5's all day. I'd have to say though I did the swap becuase I got the cam free and any thing is better than the peanut cam. Your 350 cam is just a little smaller LT1 so if your going to do all that work to swap put a good after market cam in.

Old Best 15.414 @ 87.47.
new best 15.006 @ 89.55.
w/ drag radails 14.6 @ 93

The dowel sticking out isn't a problem, my LT4 HOT Cam was that way and I just tapped it back in like 10 seconds. I don't know if you would gain a whole lot by putting an LT1 Cam in an L98, there probably isn't much of a difference. The LT1 Cam is a better mod for an LB9 or LO3.

Just as a point of reference, I used an LT1 cam (201/207 duration) and ported stock iron heads, ported stock TPI intake, SLP 1 5/8" headers, and 1.65 roller rockers, and it made 250 HP and 335 TQ at the rear wheels.

There are 3 or 4 versions of the LT1 cam, depending on which year you get. You can check http://www.f-body.org/tech/ in the 4th gen section for the specs.
