Recent 87k LB9 purchase...

Hi all,
I just bought an 85 305 LB9 with 87,000 miles from a wrecking yard. It's complete with the harness,ECM,and all engine sensors and accessories. Compression is good (and balanced), and it comes with a 30day guarentee. Paid $650.00. My question is, did I get a decent deal?

On the list: BW 3.27 posi,89 PBR rear discs,140a police alt, coated TES,glass hood, aluminum front bumper brace

Sounds to me like you did, that is if it came with all the TPI stuff. What do you plan on doing with it? Good luck.

I would immediately go back and try to find the harness and ECM for an 86-89 TPI before doing anything else. The 85 computer is much slower, and has a VERY expensive piggyback module on the ECM. If it dies..you would be in a hurt. If you dont want to run a MAF system...try to find the harness and ECM for an 90-92 Speed Density TPI...

You still got a good deal though, if it runs well with no problems.

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to firing it up.

bsa, it's going to wind up in an 84 Buick Electra Limited. The boat anchor Olds 307 is going bye-bye. After alot of thinking I chose the 215hp 305 over a 3.8 turbo and a Cadillac 500. I don't know of any other engine that can deliver the milage and power of a TPI.
