My buddy works at a GM dealership and he help put on a 62 mm throttle body on a basically stock 305,what a freaking bonehead.

Um.. so? Sure, it may be unneccesarily large, but thats not gonna hurt anything.(except your wallet)

 

You cannot fit a 62mm throttle blade into the casting, so I'm doubting the story. Perhaps he mis-heard them? They probably installed a 52mm throttle body. "Fifty-two" sounds a lot like "Sixty-two" when used in the vicinity of impact wrenches.

i think its AS&M has a huge a$$ monoblade TPI TB. They use it on BBC blown EFI marine engines for off-shore powerboat races. Little big for a 305.

 

The mono blade made by several different company's is said to be between 62 and 66mm's depending wich company it is so he's not wrong.
