Hey! I have a 88 ta 305 tpi auto. I live in FL verry HOT. OK in the morning I can start the car and go anywere without the check eng. light coming on. But in the HOT FL afternoon I can start the car and go 1/2 mile down the road and BAM that #$%&# light comes on and the car wont get out of its own way. I have to take off verry slow or it will just start to cut out but it wont stall. It sends out a code 33. I changed the maf, maf power and burnoff relay still the same thing. HELP!!!!!!

Car: 1985 Chevrolet Camaro IROC
Engine: 305 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.42
Get yourself a test light, wiring diagram, and a diagnostic flow chart. Check for a possible bad ground. I did everything that you did and that is where I ended up. Unfortunately, my ground was in one of the harness' at the ECM. Pretty confusing down there.

Other possible causes...TPS out of ajdustment...the minimum air speed screw is off, was tampered with...this code is also very commn on new larger throttle bodies that need the min air speed adjustment done and sometimes several times before the code is fixed..code 33 is the ecm also sayng theres an unrealistic airflow into the intake system.

Do check the grounds and ecm as the others stated.
Then check the stuff I mentioned.

hello who will have a wiring diagram, and a diagnostic flow chart for this car?? also when I took the old maf out there was black carbon on the screen on the intake side of the maf. the tps should be .54 right?

I had a similar, but oppisite problem, When the car was cold it would not run worth a crap & continually stall until it was warm. Got the codes, usually 34, but sometimes 33, chased it around until I found it was the temp sensor on the intake. Eventually, after 2 weeks, got the code 14 (Temp sensor).

IF your temp sensor is going bad, and when it gets warm, it might be giving a false reading, which the puter decides to recalibrate for a cold engine for example, it could very well be your problem.
