Why is my fuel pressure rising on its own??
After I installed my 355 TPI motor, I set the fuel pressure to about 48 PSI using my Crane pressure regulator. After about 30 seconds, it keeps creeping up, past like 52 PSI, even up to 55. What is causing this? What should I do? Thanks.
The one going from the plenum to the AFPR. It needs to be disconnected when checking for a baseline fuel pres.
With the motor off/ignition on (key forward-engine off)check the primed fuel rail pressure-(should be close to engine on psi). Then turn the engine over and check it with the vac line off (plug-up open end of vac line) this is where you set the pres. that you want. After you finish -replace the vac line and tape the pres. check gauge to your windshield so you can see the pres. while you are driving at Wide Open Throttle (WOT). (when you are not at WOT the pressure will be lower) The pres. needs to be the same as when adjusted in the driveway or you have a weak pump, clogged fuel filter, etc.
If you did adjusted the reg. with the vacuum line on, your psi will be way off. This should fix your problem. Let me know if it worked.
