Check engine light on , code 54 :-(

I have a code 54 in my 88 tpi camaro
scanners said code 54 is "fuelpump voltage to low or high"
Does this mean the fuelpump is on its way out ?
thanks Rik

That's a possibility. So is a short in the circuit somewhere. Can you still the pump prime when you turn the key to the on position? Has it gotten louder lately?

Hi bsa, no the pump is not louder than usual, and the car seems to run fine , also on the highway on higher speeds (= more fuel consumption)
thanks Rik

That's telling you that the ECM is not seeing the proper voltage through the FP relay.

Most likely cause is the FR relay, but best to get the schematics and do some voltage check first.

DO a search in this forum or GENERAL TECH forum...in the last few days, Vader posted the schematic for the Code 54.

I've recently been thru this. I changed the FP relay and still the same problem. When I replaced the ecm the problem went away.
Something to think about.
