SLP COLD AIR BOX?

I already have a K&N filter in my sock air box. I was wondering If I could just buy the SLP air box and use my filter and OEM ductwork. Has anyone done/tried this? If so what is involved?

Thanks,
Jason

Yes you can just buy the box separately and make sure you get the lid with it. I'm not sure if your stock K/N filter will work. You now have the SLP kit they sell for $200.

I wish I had known the ductwork is the same on the TAs when I bought mine...could've save a lot of money.

The Stock Filter size (about the same size as the charcoal canister) is the same for the SLP, I did mine last week... except I had the full kit and it came w/ the filter... so you'll be able to swap directly, and like IROCZZ3 said, get the top connecting piece

I know that I can buy the box separate. What do you mean about the top connecting piece? What elese will I need? Will I need to make a bracket for the canister to be relocated? Could someone e-mail/fax me the directions from their kit? That would be great. My Fax number is 814-624-5082.

Thanks,
Jason

The top piece is just the lid that is held on by 4 quick turn fasteners. It can be seen here:

I'm not sure about the canister on the Firebird but on the Camaro it's already located on the left side so I think you will have to relocate yours to the left side. SLP sells a wire harness extension for the canister probably for this purpose but I don't have the instructions anymore.

About the top lid...it doesn't show the quick turn fasteners in the picture. You might wanna ask them about and make sure you get them. When I ordered one a few years ago to replace my old lid I don't remember if it came with them or not.
