Cold Start Question

I have an 89 GTA 5.0 TPI. My question is, when I start it cold, the idle does not immediately go to a high idle. It takes a few seconds and then it jumps up. Also, my idle is not the best and is a little rough. I just got this car and am not too familiar with how it should start. Otherwise, the car runs very nice and is strong. Could someone tell me if my idle should go right to a high idle or if it does indeed take a few seconds.

It should immediatly go to high-idle. Try checking the volts for the TPS, and clean the IAC valve, this should help, diffinatly wont do any harm.
