motor block question

when i first bought my 85 z28 at 15yrs old, the guy told me it was an l88 out of a corvette. now that i have bought it back and am starting an overhaul on it, i did research on the 350 tpi. since that is the intake on it i figured the guy had his numbers mixed up and meant l98. now i am starting to have second thoughts on my research and am trying to find casting numbers for the block on the L98 and L88 to figure out just which block i have. the research i have done says the l88 is a 427 and my question is will the 350 tpi intake bolt up to a 427 block? and does anyone know where i can go to find a casting number breakdown?

Re: motor block question

It would be my guess the guy got the numbers wrong. A L88 is a 427 big block from the 60s A L98 is a 350. A small block intake will not bolt to a big block like the 427 454 0r 396

the answer to the sbc intake bolting up to a bb 427 is a definite no. As for the l88 i know nothing about those castings but, the l98 is a sbc 350 tpi factory f-body engine which is much more likely id expect.
