89' 305 NEED SOME ADVISE!!!!!

I have a couple of diffent options as far as deals I can get. My 89' 305 is in the process of getting new heads and a TPI swap. My question is I have a 86' TPI unit, can I put a set of 86 L98(if they made then this year???) aluminum heads on my 89 block? Also what about using 87' or newer heads and just a 87' and newer base manifold? HELP ME OUT PLEASE!!!!!

late 1986 model corvettes had aluminum L98 heads. all 86 convertable corvettes had the aluminum heads. they will work fine with your tpi. the corvette heads will require you to elongate the center bolts on the manifold due to a different bolt angle, no big deal though. that is unless you got your tpi off of a corvette.

Ummmmmm... not quite.

All of the aluminum corvette heads have the early bolt pattern, which is what the 86 TPI manifold is. You can use any L98 vette aluminum head with that manifold. If you wanna use an 87-up head other than those with the different bolt angles, you will have to elongate the holes on the center 4 intake bolts. One side is kinda thin to do that, so be careful when grinding/drilling/cutting.
