need help twin turboing my tpi

I have a 350 tpi out of an 89 iroc. I plan to put it in my 89 silverado. I also plan on twin turbos. I plan on puting on a set of used vortec heads of off a suburban. I no i need a forged crank and im puting forged 8.1 pistions. What do i need to replace in the heads so they can handle the boost. I plan on running 15 to 20 psi. And if there is anything else i should do to the motor so it can handle the boost. I am trying to keep this as cost efficient as possible.
Also i need to find out how much power a 700r4 can be built to handle because from what ive found out so far the moter should produce any where from 650 to 800 horse. I cant go with another trans because it needs to bolt up to the stock four wheel drive system. Thanks any info will help.

You'll probably want an aftermarket EFI system (even though I like the DIY stuff myself). It'll get you up and running with less headache's for you, judging by my assumptions about your knowledge. You'll want to get some 60 pound per hour injectors while you're at it.

700R4 doesn't stand a chance, in my opinion. Talk to Pro-built about it, maybe he can get one that can handle it. You'll definitely need a nice torque converter that won't balloon on you.

And maybe you'll just want to push your luck with a cheaper engine, as you learn to tune. Hope that post doesn't keep you up for 3 to 4 days.

Some good valve springs, that can handle whatever lift cam you have (machine the valve guide bosses probably), with enough seat pressure is about all you NEED, but you'll want to torque them down tighter to keep them from lifting, and use either a nice head gasket and don't mess it up, or use a cheap set, and let them act like the weak link so that you know when you've gone too lean or too much spark advance, or too much boost.

Re: need help twin turboing my tpi

don't forget to get some good head gaskets (copper or cometic), arp head bolts, new vac lines with zip ties on the ends and forged rods. i would also recomend a turbo/blower cam.wideband o2,boost gauge, egt gauge, and an intercooler.. a set of cold plugs and close the gap on them to around 25-30. the stock tpi setup should be fine just port the hell out of the base or get an edlebrock base. i was reading hot rod mag and there is a guy in there with a third gen bird with some 350 out of a salvage yard bone stock with like some head work and a single turbo set up and hes running around 400-550hp i think. and hes in the 10's. a single turbo will do just as good as a twin setup. and alot easier to tune and hook up. megasqurit makes a diy ecm kit for cheap. 700r won't last long and especially that transfer case.
