New Engine- Your thoughts please!
Hey guys.
Well the cheapy rebuilt 356 i have is beginning to show it's cheapness. So on with a new and better plant.
I have about $2000 to spend on this, and have the SuperRam already.
I need your opinions on this combo:
-GM 350 shortblock roller 4 bolt main. $1200
-TFS 23 degree heads $850
-Comp 08-302-8, 210/220@.050, .480/.480, 112 lsa, (my current cam which i will still use to save cash)
-1.6 RR
-SuperRam base and upper.
I want around 360 hp, do you think this will do it?
Let me know what you think.
thanx

on a 2.050 60 ft.

I know you wanna save money but I'd save a few more dollars and buy a bigger cam...something like the LPE 219, it will work with your SR perfectly.

Whiterocz, the builder didn't put exhaust valve seals on the heads and they smoke a little on start up.there is nothing else wrong with them. LT4 springs, 3 angle job, pocket ported.
I will be selling them later, not sure when though. I'll let you know.
Yeah, the cam needs to change, and it will. But at first i am gonna use the comp. I think it will still run very well.
What do you think of the TFS 23 and the SuperRam, I've heard they are a good match.

It should run great, and btw, i'd scrap those headers long before you worry about the next cam to run. TES are the worst and will seriously limit your power, i'd bet that combo will lose a few tenths/mph compared to SLP 1 3/4. Long tubes would be even better. Small-ish cam EFI cars are coming a long way these days. Look at what tim sifford did w/ a 212/218 comp XR (12.2 @ 112)
