Plug Wires

I am curious if my plug wires are original on my 89 GTA TPI. Does anyone know how I would distiguish them as far as what is written on them? They do not say GM or Delco. This may sound like a stupid question but I want to keep the car all original. If I don't need to buy new wires then I won't as long as they check ok.

Thanks!

If you have over 30k miles on it, they need changed (if original). Usually, the stock wires were numbered. The #1 wire would say 1 about every 3-4 inches. Same for all 8 wires.

The wires I just took off had heat shielding for almost the entire length. ESP the part of the wire that ran under the exhaust manifold on the drivers side.

Nobody will fault you for getting new wires -nor oil filters, belts, wiper blades, etc., for that matter. If you need wires, go to your nearest G.M. dealer and get good 'ol factory replacements. The factory wires are carbon core. Being that old (if original), they could break (and at the worst possible moment).

Thanks guys. Well, I will be getting some new wires soon. The other reason I was curious what they looked like is that the car has only 20K miles. It is unbelievably clean inside and out. Even the under carriage looks really good like you could eat off of it. Never-the-less, I'm still skeptical of the mileage and was just looking for clues which may tell me that the actual mileage is otherwise. The only thing that worries me is that the brakes seem to have been replaced. But then again on my 96 grand am I had to replace them at 19K miles. I guess I'll never know for sure.

Oh yeah, my wires had flex tubing on many of the wires as well. They did say Delcore on them I think.
