anyone with siamesed tpi base!!!

how far did you go and did it hurt low rpm torque?

Madmax avesome post and dyno figures made me assured that mod would be nice for looking more high rpm hp's

any problems with that mod? can i go through like Madmax did or should i stay just cutting few inches?

what's the best way to do it? hacksaw? something less brutal?

if you have done it, how's your ride now after 5000rpm?

thanks!

Here's a fast way to remove 1 1/2". The best part is it only took 2 hours to do all of them. Requires a die grinder and a dremal.

John, nice pics thanks! i saw from your signature that you're not running plain stock engine did you noticed any difference?

i just wonder is there any downsides doing siamese mod? since i have no spare tpi base.

I just did it on my spare base(bought for $50) and I can't install it till I get a new baseline at the track. I've did a couple other mods and need to see the improvement before I slap the intake on and run it again. I will post times since I don't have access to a dyno like MadMax did.

I swapped out the modded intake this past Sunday. I'll tell you it woke up on the street, the thing pulls hard past 6000 rpm now and it revs so much quicker. Big smile on my face this week driving to work.

I took it to the track tonight and tested it, not much improvement on ET. I did get a new best with a 8.57 in the 1/8th as compared to my old of 8.59, MPH stayed the same around 80.5 to 81.6mph. Not consistant, I can get 1.9 60' times and do the 8.57 and sometimes I suck and pull 2.1 60' times and the ET reflects at 8.82, I think it's all me though.

I'm also working the bugs out of the new speed density computer, I used to be MAF. It's running very rich right now so I think the times will improve with some more tuning.

John

John, you MPH does suggest a HP improvement, even with only a 1/8 drag. I would suspect that if you did a full 1/4, that you would notice an ET improvement and a even greater MPH improvement as this mod suggests a "top end" increase. It definitely suggests that you didn't loose any torque given the short 1/8 mile run.

Drop me an e-mail sometime, I would be interested in any tuning issues you may have. Did you and Bernard ever get those AT29C256s to work on a different computer?

John,
what is the cam like in your 383??
it would be interesting if it wasnt too different from the L98 cam. just curious because if someone just went ahead and did this and left the stock L98 or worse yet the peanut in there I think it might be a different story past 5000.
let us know though.

i seen the pics of the modded base and you said it revved freely but what runners do you have are they siamesed too?looking to completely hog out my slp runners and am thinking with an open plenum and an open set of runners the runner length would change and since the base has the only runners that are divided it will be able to breathe a lot better!!!!!!!!

------------------
87 trans am 350 L98 aluminum heads,LT4 hot cam,slp runners,1 5/8 headers,y-pipe,edelbrock base,hi flo cat,air foil,afpr,ported plenum,t-5 tranny w/centerforce clutch and a 3.27 9bolt(11.9in. brakes),ads strip chip,relocated iat sensor,tb bypass,hollowed maf,a/c delete(whole lotta room in there now)

14.10@97mph w/2.01 60'

siamesing the slp's and my fastchip eprom is on it's way
