Timing ????

Timing ????

So I need some help .got an 85 305 when I unplug the sensor do I set the timing at 6BTDC then plug the sensor in and set the timing to 6BTDC ? I really don't think I'm doing it right ! Some body help me out Oh yea I'm pretty sure it's stock I just bought it about 5 months ago and was changing the wires plugs cap roater and stuff you know and I turned the distributor a little I didn't know I should have marked it before I started ! Learn something every day ! It runs but It doen't seem right hook me up some body please !!!

there is no sensor involved,unplug the est wire engine off/ignition off.
start the engine(est wire still unplugged)
set the timing to 6 degrees.you may want to mark the timing tabs on the indicator next to the harmonic balancer for better viewing during timing set.
then turn off the engine,plug the est wire back in and you should be good to go.

there are many posts on correct timeing for pretty stock engs. . the wire bundle over the heater/blower box has a wire . if i remember right its brown/black stripe . dis-connect this , set timeing to 0% , re-connect . you should be good to go . good luck .

Kool man so when I plug it in and it moves it thats ok I don't have to mess with it anymore .! I'm try that out .It's raining pretty hard so I probly wont be able to try it till 2morrow . Thanks

You mean 6 degrees BTDC, right?
