400/w 5.7 rods?

hey guys,I currently have a 400(.040 over)small block with 5.7 stock rods.for confirmation, what are the benefits of 5.7 rods over 5.56 aside from piston wall, and also do i have to radius the rods for rod/block/cam clearance?thanks in advance for replies.

longer rods due two main things 1 it reduces the amount of abuse on the walls of the cylinder and 2 it levels out the tq curve some by allowing the piston to stay at tdc longer and changes your rod to stroke ratio as well.from what i know a perfect rod to stroke ratio on an acceleration engine would be 1.74 some of the other guys may shed some more light on the subject

The only thing I had to do was notch the hell out of my block for cleanance near the oil pan rails. Some were worse than others.

I had a dyno test in an old hotrod mag, where Joe sherman used a 400 putting out around 600 horsepower. Swaping the stock 400 rods for the longer 350 type rods. The long rods showed slighlty more topend power. Somewhere around 10 horsepower cant remember the exact figure. It wasnt much The shorter rods made a little more lowend torque.

They do reduce side loading of the piston. How much this actually reduces wear I dont know.
