DPI?

What is DPI? I've heard of it several times, normally when refering to higher HP engines? What are the benefits and drawbacks? Expense, availability yadda yadda yadda?

DFI is digital fuel injection made by accel lets you control all engine functions with on the fly modifications it is quite expensive i just priced one it was $1246 for the no frills one.aftter considering thhe options i'm going with burning my own chips from whhat i know there is a lot of functions you can alter in the stock ecm the only drawback is changing the proms after burning

are you sure dpi? or dfi?
i have never heard of dpi (i been out of the loop for awhile) but dfi is digital fuel injection. i have an accel dfi unit and what it is ...a completely adjustable computer/harness. you can...change injector pulse length (on top model) watch all diagnostics (via laptop, which is also what is used to make fuel curve adjustments , etc etc.)
i used it for the adjustability it has.

Yes...I meant DFI not DPI. See, I really didn't know! Thanks. Can I still use my TPI setup...mechanically I mean. I would imagine so right? At what point does it become really worth the money...performance wise I mean?...Not planning on gettin' one...I just like to learn about what's out there.!!!!

Whew! For a minute there I though the Department of Public Instruction (Wisconsin) had started diversifying into aftermarket fuel systems. Freakin' taxes are high enough as it is...

i would say dfi is not needed on anything smaller than a 383. but i guess an extreme 350 could utilize dfi too. a friend has it on his. actually thinking about it...any size seriously built motor could use it effectively
