I am going to chack my egr as soon as I can get some time, but b4 that I want to ask if anyone has had the egr stick OPEN , and what the symptoms were ?
I am getting code 53, which sometimes means high voltage at EGR. My symptoms are
A) car won't hold idle B) car runs rough, smooths out a bit over 40 mph. C) Stalls under 15 to 20 mph unless you keep your foot on the gas somewhat. D) Smell of unburned gas, snd some other weird smell coming out exhaust pipe. Plugs are carbon-fouled.

I am not getting the classic 32 egr code, though, just the 53.

Sound like EGR stuck OPEN ? Anyone ever have this happen ?

88 GTA 5.7 TPI Charcoal Grey Bone Stock except for loose muffler which makes it a bit louder than normal.

 

i had mine stick open and it caused a surging at idle. but any other time while driving was fine. i dint throw a code 53 though. id bet something is wrong with your egr solenoid.
