Fuel Rail Removal Help Please..!
Fuel Rail Removal Help Please..!
I have an 89 IROC-Z Conv 305 TPI. Am replacing the EGR and I am stuck trying too get the fuel rail off, I took off the 4 top bolts, disconnected the fuel lines, the only thing holding it in place are the injectors them selves, What is the trick to get this off? I am afraid to put too much presure on it, to prevent any damage, please help.
Someone asked me if i de-presurized the fuel system first? Is that the valve on the top of the fuel rail that looks like an air valve?, but wouldnt it have de-presurized when I disconnected the fuel lines?
Sorry for the long post. I really need help.

If the fuel lines are off then it is depressurized.
It takes some pulling to get it off. I thought the same thing when i took mine out. Just take it slow and evenly, it will come out. Make sure to lube the o-rings when re-installing.

spray some wd40 or silicone spray in there,, mine were stuck too,, let it sit for an hour or 2 then pry them up again, 1 side at a time.
they have been in there for 10+ years and the o rings are dry..

Yeah, this is the first time anything has been taken off since 1989. All the gaskets were baked on, I almost had to take a pry bar to the runners to break them free.
Ill go out now and spray some WD-40 in there, and I already have the O-rings, i figured they would need it,, providing I ever got them out. with out sending the injectors to a shop is there anything i can do to clean/tune or anything?, Since
I have taken the whole TPI of I rebuilt the TB and dont currently have a problem with the injectors, but preventive mainenence and general cleaning while im in there, this is not a job I want to tackle often.
Thanx

Like the other guys said, nothing left but to simply pry them up.
But if all you are doing is replacing the EGR valve, you dont need to remove the fuel rails for that. Unless you are in that preventative maintenance mood like you stated earlier.

while they are out you might as well spend $80 and have them cleaned and flowmatched by:
