AFR heads vs Fastburn Heads

Will be using a ZZ4 short block...and a LT4 hot cam...my goal is 12s in the quarter mile N/A....and a 100hp shot of NOS to get me in the 11s....question is...should I wait for the vortec TPI base....or go ahead and get the AFR heads? Im interested in fuel economy as well as power. And i'll be getting the aluminum verisons. Another thing....im a bit confused as to what I need to buy...I think I will need 1.6 Roller Rockers....and lifters?? But theres a thing on AFR's site that is called Hydra-Rev Hydralic Roller Cam Rev Kit...what is that? And do i need it...basically....what besides the heads and cam do I need to buy to have a complete working engine (keeping in mind I would already have the small block, exhaust system, and intake system.

I would suggest the AFRs, they outflow all of the other companies, including the GMPP ones. They are expensive though, close to $1500 for the 190s and 195s.

The AFRs are far better heads. The AFR 190s will flow more than the fastburns and have a smaller intake runner (ie, more velocity/ more torque). You will have more potential wiht the AFRs. The fast burn/LT4 hot cam combo works really well though. Thats what Im running on my project car with a ram jet efi setup. Hopefully it will make its claimed 430HP figure.

The Hydra-Rev kit is to keep the valves from floating at higher rpm's. Even roller cams have this problem.

That is why they show an increase of horse power from 6000 rpm and up. If you do not run your motor up that much, you do not need the hyrda-rev kit. (unless of course you just want a sfae-guard for it in case you evr do)

for a proven combo the lt4 hot cam and fast burn's are said to be great but you need a good flowing intake to get the combo to rev where it makes the power(miniram or fully ported superram)i would go with the afr's they come cnc machined for consistent flow from runner to runner where the gm's are cast formed leaving larger tolerances a cheaper alternative and i know a guy who has them and loves em is the tf23* head they are cheaper and dont flow to much less without having cnc'd ports or chambers as for a cam that depends on where you want it to live for most street engines(occaisonal track)the superram will be enough
