Is it normal to smell fuel at the regulator?
I pulled off the vacuum line at my fuel pressure regulator and it smelled like raw fuel. Is this normal? Should I replace the regulator? I'm fighting a rough idle problem and was wondering if this may contribute.

You shouldn't have fuel on the vacuum line side, if you do, the it's being pulled through from the diaphram. Good time to replace it with an adjustable regulator.
YES you want to replace the rubber diaphram. If your getting raw fuel like that in the plenum that means the rubber diaphram is leaking and could lead to an EXPLOSION!! I have seen a 1999 Buick park ave.'s intake blown to peices. Although it was plastic, I would hate to see what it would do to a TPI unit.
