Coolant temp sensor location

According to my Haynes manual, the coolant temp sensor is on the front of the "left" cylinder head. I looked on the front of both of them and I cant see anything that looks like a sensor. The only thing that looks like it would be it is a small sensor that is on the intake manifold/base under the throttle body. Anybody know for sure where its at? I have a '91 GTA with a 350/TPI.

It is on the driver side cyl. head near the headers(about half way back). The fan switch is on the passenger side under the headers. Both sensors are screwed directly into a water jacket and should probably have some type of sealer applied to the threads if they don't have it on there already with the new part.

The sensor on the Driver's Side head between #1 and #2 is for the Temperature Gauge only. The other sensor in the other head is for the #2 Fan.

The CTS that controls the ECM is the base manifold in the front of the engine. If you remove the serpentine belt it you will see it immediately in the base manifold.

I suggest getting a better manual. Those Haynes books are really lacking in information IMO. The best is still a GM Factory Shop Manual.

I thought that the one on the base under the TB was it. Thanks. I know that the Haynes are lacking a lot of info for the fuel injected engines. But for other parts it isn't to bad because it shows more pictures so you can see what they are talking about. The Chilton manual just SUCKS! It didn't even mention the CTS at all. Total waste of money. I plan on getting one of those GM shop manuals pretty soon. So when I go to the auto parts store and ask for a CTS, they're going to give me the one for the ECM and not the guage right? I looked up the CTS on CSKauto.com and it was only like $15. Is that the right one?

Just look at the "connection". I can't remember EXACTLY what the connector on the CTS looked like (mult-pronged with an oval shaped connector IIRC). So just unplug it and look, to be sure.

Then double check when you buy the part.
