could really use some pictures of the different cables, not sure what year my 350 is out of... and did not get the cables with it...

any help would be appreciated.

I have the kick down for the bottom **** with the big slide.

A dealer, or aftermarket ones are probably available at any parts store. There'll be an acclerator cable, a throttle valve cable, and a cruise cable if you have cruise.

if you don't have cruise,just get any cable for a tpi auto. car.of the same year
I found the cable I needed at my local autozone.
However I don't know if there is a store in Kalamazoo.

That looks like the end of your throttle cable that would go through your firewall and connect to your accelerator pedal.

thats def. a throttle cable for a thirdgen.,but which one?
If your tpi setup is from a 90-92 it is speed density which is quite similar yet different than your 89.
If you are running a speed density setup,you will need cables from a 90-92 including the cruise control.

it's not speed density, I think I was given the wrong cable when I bought the motor.

yeah,if you're running the tpi on your 89 tbi engine you just need the right throttle cable for the tpi cuz tbi cables are diff.(which I'm sure you already know) I'm not really familiar with the part numbers but the Apeiron posted is probably correct.

 

Doesn't matter if it's speed density or not, the linkage on the throttle body is all that's important. You've got the 89-92 linkage with the accelerator cam.

The TV cable is easily recognized by the D shaped button on it.

sorry I don't currently have a pic of it,but I believe hes talking about the cable that comes from the tranny up to the top of the engine.
They are all pretty similar.They have the locking mechanism where you adjust the downshift point.

85-92 TPI 700R4 Kickdown Cable

The pic in post #15 is clearly the 85-88 style throttle cable. You have an 89-92 style throttle body on your setup. You can get the correct, original GM 89-92 style cable you need from tpiparts.net. I'm pretty sure the cruise control cable is the same for all years of TPI. I've heard in a couple of posts that the TV cable changed around 89 or 90, but I'm not completely sure if that's true. You definitely have the wrong throttle cable though. Angel, the guy who runs tpiparts.net, knows this stuff very well. I'm sure a quick email to him would answer whether the cruise and TV cables are correct or not. Btw, stick with original GM for the TV cable. Those universal, aftermarket type TV cables like you posted in #11 very seldom work right. Just the fact that it says 82-92 for the application is enough to shy me away from trying one of those. TPI, TBI, and carbed thirdgens all have specific length TV cables.
