i have a 87 gta with a 88 motor and wiring the guy i got it from spliced the wiring harness together and it is a nightmare it was running great for 4 days then i went around a turn and it was like i shut off the key a cuple hours later i was just messing around with it and it started i was like yay i shut it off and its been a week has not started back up yet it i bought a new distibutor the ecm is new it has a super chip the vats is dissabled IM NOT GETTING SPARK AND CANT FIND THE PROBLEM i am so ready to send the car on its way no one has showed me the light i have checked almost all the wiring its all messed up but i dont know gm very well it looks like its right but what do i know the funny thing is i was die hard mustang till one day i decided to try 3rd gen car got this gta 5 speed loved it till this now im wondering if it was worth it any help out there? if not im going to sell the tpi and carb it so if you want it trade me a carb set up

 

No spark when cranking comes from the control box in the dizzy (distibutor).
check the wires there and connectors around there. It sounds like a bad connection. stopped when turning corner. also if you have done a bunch of cranking fuel wet plugs do not fire well.

 

i have a warrenty on the distributor after it happend i took it back got a whole new one what leads me to think its wiring is i was messing with all the wires and it started i shut it off been dead ever since

oh and im not getting fire at the cap or wires

 

So she ran for some time...means something was wired correctly to make the car run.

Forget about what was done to the car before you go it, and concentrate on what you have now.

Define "not getting spark"...do you mean it won't start, or you pulled a plug wire and no spark comes out to ground?

And what exactly did you do when you "messed around with it"?

 

yes no spark at the wire or coil and i was wiggleing wires and pushing on connections i have had no change at all

 

Start by making sure you have good ground connections on the back of the heads, take the connections off (should be three or four wires in each) and shine up/scratch up the head mounting surface where the connector bolts to.

Do you have voltage (with the key on) at the coil?
