IAC and TPS , Help !

I have tryed to set the IAC and the TPS and it just will not set and stay . Every time I set them and shut off the car , they reset them selfs back as soon as I turn car back on. Is it all that important on proformance when I have done alot of motor mods and still have same chip ? Is that why it wont stay set on the new settings ? My idle never stays the same , it jumps around alot .

Have you cleaned and lubed the IAC stepper motor pintle (rack gear)? In addition to setting the minimum air, you should also clean the IAC and its air passages when performing this adjustment.

I have a heavily modified 88 camaro that also idles between 900-1200rpm. I am using a custom chip and with the IAC count at around 18 it seems to idle well at 1000 rpm. It seems this is neccesary with a 230/230@ .050 non-roller cam in a tpi engine. If you have access to a scan tool (I used a hand-held from snap-on) it will tell you your chips desired idle speed and will also display tps and iac readings. good-luck

I had big problems with my idle on my new 383, try to raise TPS voltage a little it helped for me........

The motor is a 383 , orig a 5.7 . It has been stroked at 372% it has a roller 218/480 cam and 10:01 kb piston,headers,gutted air box,K&N,3 in exaust, no cat, flomaster ,roller rockers heavy springs and the good plugs and wires.
