O2 sensor

I need to replace the O2 sensor on my '88 Firebird Formula 5.7L (350) V-8,stock engine.
Any sugestions, recomendations or opinions on what to buy?
There seems to be all kind of different ones on the market or should I just go to our local GM dealer?
Thanks!

Any quality O2 sensor is fine. IIRC, oem is a bosch unit.

Ed,
Do you have a Bosch partnumber for their O2 sensor?
Bosch Germany told me it's an Americanbosch part, totaly different company,German Bosch can't suply me one, they say!
It's like going round in circles for me overhere!
They all tell me ,German Bosch as well,to order it from a GM dealer, but they are extremely expensive here, and apart from that I like (and trust) Bosch parts!

Thanks Dave,I will see my local Bosch parts retailer and find out if he can order that partnumber!
And Left Turn,I live in The Netherlands,Europe,so no Advance,Pepboys,Autozone, etc, only a handfull GM dealers, and some small autoshops, that sell only crap for European and Jap cars!
American cars are very rare here, especialy the newer ones(that includes our F-bodys!)
Due to a tax rule, there are somewhat more 25 years or older USA cars here.
Anyway I like my Firebird a lot,but sometimes it's almost impossible to find the right parts (my car was imported here in 1993 when it was 5 years old,it was originaly never sold here,so even a GM dealer doesn't stock anything.....!
I'm glad this site excists, already learned a lot!
Greetings from a Lone Road Warrior!

Well,no luck today!
My Bosch retailer told me ANY Bosch part has a partnumber with 10 digits!
He sugested to buy an universal no-name O2 sensor.
Anybody out there that can take a close look at his/hers Bosch O2 sensor and find that TEN digits number for me?
Thanks!

I took the sensor out today,the following is on it;
AC sparkplug made in USA AFS20 13482V.
Any sugestions, like just order the same from a GM dealer,or go for a no name sensor from a carparts store?

DB,

There are several on-line stores that will ship parts almost anywhere:

http://www.expressautoparts.com/ (various manufacturers parts)

http://www.wrenchhead.com/ (NAPA parts online)

If you really encounter an obstacle, someone could probably ship a sensor via UPS in three days for about $40.00 (US) in shipping costs plus the $25.00 for the sensor. That's a fairly expensive replacement. The same item sent 4-6 weeks through the US Postal Service would be about $18.00 (US), if you're that patient.

From following the mailing list on www.diy-efi.org/gmecm for a while, I've started to assume that all O2 sensors are about the same. Except of course, for the "wide-band" sensor that Honda uses in some of their cars, the rest sound as if they're interchangable. Heck, there's a few guys on the list using Mustang 5.0 3-wire heated O2 sensors. The signal is (apparently) the same and the heater lets it go into closed-loop sooner! They're using the Ford part because it is cheaper than the GM equivalent.
