help!!!!

i just got done finishing putting my headers on,i went to crank the car it fired up.so i was getting some tools up while the header stuff burn off.then the engine almost died then pick back up and then it just shut off.i look around the bat wire that goes to the starter was sparking.the wire was on the header and melted the sh*t out of it.so i pulled it off right and went back to crank it nothing.my interior light dont even come on.

i had in mind could it be the ignition switch

Re: help!!!!

Did You strip the burnt wire down and re-solder in a replacement with some shrink wrap. If you didn't fix that wire it probably won't start. Start there and whip out the voltage meter.

Re: help!!!!

Identify if it was the ground that fried or the 12v lead to the
starter. I can't tell you what burnt or what damage was done, the
best way is to check your crank/interior fuses, replace what was
damaged, then if you don't have power to the car look toward your
electrical components.

Ive had my fair share of electrical mishaps (especially with hedders), and
never fried an accessory. 88iroc said it right, whip out the VOM.

Re: help!!!!

First check the battery to see if it isn't fried, then your fuses, then your fusible link. Work your way from there.

Maybe say... start by getting the reading at the battery, then check for continuity from the battery to the starter and your grounds...keep going from there.

Re: help!!!!

If battery goes dead from no charge. Follow the battery to starter path something is weak, corroded, burnt half up,or just loose. Better to fix in garage than on the road, some dark and rainy nite.
