Over tightened knock sensor what could happen?
I'm having some problems and never knew the knock sensor was supposed to be tightened to 14ftlbs. Its probably around 35-40 right now should I loosen it?
hello, i have heard that if you tighten a knock sensor too tight that it won't p/u a spark knock... where as if you leave it too loose, it will show spark knock when its not really doing it. just what i've heard, best of luck, tom

Now that I read it I'm thinking what a dumb question. What I really mean to ask is.... What effect will it have bieng too tight? I'm having some serious performance issues right now and there are no codes.

There another post w/ the same stuff going on in here right now. The newbie got it backwards, w/ it too tight it will pick up too much engine noise and tend to register false knock. Too loose and it does't pick up anything.
Your loss of performance is very likely b/c that sensor is too tight, at WOT there is a lot of engine noise going on, which is prolly registering as false knock, retarding your timing excessivley.
