ZZ-9 vs. LT-4 Hot Cam question...

I just spoke with TPIS about putting the MiniRam intake on my engine. I have a 355 ci motor with Sportsman 11 heads and an LT-4 Hot Cam, I wanted to know if the MiniRam was going to be my best choice to go with, they said it will work great, but they don't like the Hot Cam much because it is too big, being flat until about 3500 rpm, now are the specs not -VERY- close on the ZZ-9 cam that they sell? They recommend the ZZ-9 highly for the intake, is this most likely only because it is thier product, or am I unclear on the two cams? What are your opinions on my intake choice? Long tube runners like the AS&M, SuperRam, or MiniRam ?

355 ci. sportsman 11 heads (heavily ported) LT-4 Hot Cam, 9:89.1 compression, SLP 1 3/4" headers, cat back, 5 speed trans. 3:70 gears, etc....

------------------
1991 Camaro RS/Z28,polished TPI, 355ci. Sportsman 11 heads, LT-4 Hot cam,Pete Jackson gear drive, on,and on, and on... 13.4 @ 105.98 with a 2:77 rear, no traction, no tuning, no practice. Car is pictured in Chevy High Performance magazine, June 2000 issue.

Latest times with the new 3:70 gearset using a G-Tech only > 13.9 @ 114.3 , very traction limited.

1997 GMC Yukon, 4 wheel drive, leather, loaded, Gibson exhaust, K&N intake, Boston pro series speakers..... That's it so far.

1969 Camaro,12 point cage, total project right now, I am planning an LS1 - T56 - and a Vette independent rear. Pro Touring crowd, look out! 8^)

They're just trying to foist their stuff on you. The LT4 hot cam is far from too big for the MR, in fact, traxion was running the comp XR w/ 218/224 (LT4 is 218/226) and felt that it was too small, at least for his taste and went to a kinda big cam 230/245. btw, the ZZ9 is 212/226 IIRC.

I'd just stick with the cam you have now, traxion ran 12.2 @ 112 w/ the aforementioned XR (no times on the new cam yet.) I'm not sure of the exact development of his combo, but i think he was in the barely high 12s w/ the same cam on his old ASM semi siamesed LTR set-up. Obviously there is more in his car then the cam and intake but i'm not going through his combo here, check out the link to the ICON page in my sig and find traxion on the members page to see what he has.

- Definitely prototypes, high powered mutants of some kind. Too weird to live, too cool to die

you can minipulate when the cam will come on i know a few guys runing it 1.5 degrees retarded to build low rpm tq keep in mind this is for an ltr tpi setup by doing this it might limit your power up high where the miniram likes to live
