I can't find a cam that is made for my engine and i have to keep it legal cause Massachusetts sucks. I need someone who has a 91 or 92 305 tpi who has installed a cam to tell me what they used and if it is good or not. Thanks.

I put a crane compu cam (p/n 104221) 204/214@.050 .429intk .452exh.In my 91 Z28 Summit has several listed.I can say that I didn't notice a gain at all, time slips showed no improvements either. It diffinetly wasn't the best bang for my buck.It could just be that it just wasn't the right cam for my setup,or maybe I needed a custom promm the benifit from it but I think it was a waste. There are alot of other guys out there putting cams in,I'm not sure what kind of luck they are having maybe they'll let us know. But they are out there for your car and they are emissio0ns legal.

Ice,

Massachusetts doesn't suck. I've been there. It has it's attractions. But, like every other state and province, there are a select few in the capitals that were empowered by election or appointment that really don't have a clue. So we all suffer to some extent. The real challenge is that you just have to be a little smarter than the people in those positions (not really a challenge, though).

In that vein, there are several designs from Comp Cams that have C.A.R.B. approval and are 50-state legal for emissions. Any almost any of those is far superior to the original "LA" (LameAss) cam that was originally installed in the engine. The 260AH-14 would work nicely for you. It specs at .444"/.444", 212°/218°, and 114° LSA. Of course, any change such as this to a speed-density car will require a custom PROM for best results, but you likely already knew that anyway.

I'm guessing that Lunati, Crane, and several other major lumpity-stick makers have similar offerings, and doing the homework will definitely be worth you time.

Of course, you can maximize the effectiveness of the cam profile with more exact rockers, such as Magnum rollers - all perfectly legally with the necessary certification numbers.

the slp cam works well and is carb legal but you won't see the kind of improvement your looking for. great bottom end but not much for all out performance.

I am gonna have to disagree vader... those cam specs are better than the stock L98 cam that the engine (like all other 90-92 305 TPIs) came with, they aren't better enough to justify the hassle of a swap.

The regular LT4 cam would be a great swap. With 1.5 rockerss, lift would be somewhere in the neighborhood of .470ish for intake and exhaust. Duration is slightly higher than stock, and it has a 115 LS I believe. The ECM will love it.
