Bolt Torque for Runners and Plenum?

I just torqued these bolts down to 24 ft lbs because that is what my manual said. Then I flipped the page and it gave another spec which is 19lbs. Which is correct? Should I worry about another 5 ft lbs if it should have been the lower number?

Without looking it up it shouldn't matter much. If you don't have any vacuum leaks then it's okay. The higher torque value might result in a broken bolt, obviously it didn't, or a deformed mating surface and poor sealing, no vacuum leaks you're okay.

Also I own 2 expensive torque wrenches and I don't touch either when working on the runners and upper plenum. Maybe not a wise thing to do, but all's well.

Thanks for the replys. I don't think I have any vacuum leaks. Of course I will check it over good. Usually they loosen up a little anyway once the engine heats up. I really hate these damn torx bolts. What a friggin nightmare.

My Haynes manual says 18lbs/ft of torque. I wouldn't over torue ANY bolt that goes into a soft metal like aluminum. But that's just me. I don't think 24lbs/ft is that bad though.

Red/Yroc 'n,

Of course, you remembered to clean all the fasteners and apply a liberal coating of anti-seize compound before your torqued ANYTHING, right?

The torque specifications for all fasteners and the IAC are at the end of this article:
