Are any of the bases 305 or 350 ok for porting mod?

Hello, I have a 91 L98 and want a spare base to mod and wondered if I need a 91 or 92 350 base only or if the earlier ones or the 305 ones are just as suitable for porting and modifying . PS - Car is not even home yet and trying to modify it! 91 5.7 GTA White with tan leather and all options except T tops and CD, bought north of San Francisco last week and being shipped in an enclosed transporter to Houston , TX area, Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me for no damage. Thanks, Dave

305 and 350 TPI intakes are identical, so you can use either one you can get.

You have speed density!!On earlier models, the have a intake temp sensor on them, yours will not!!!I stuck a 90 TPI base and found this out, also found there is about 3 more holes on a speed density upper intake.

Sorta, but not really. 89-92 bases will be identical, but the only differences on an 87-88 intake will be the extra hole for the cold start temp sensor. Thats easily plugged. You dont want an 85-86 intake as the intake bolt holes are different.

Here is an '85-'86 base w/ the center holes modified to fit BOTH style heads for sale. TPI Base

All you will have to do to make it work is to plug the front hole for the cold start valve switch (very easily done).
