EGR question

Hey guys,

On a tpi car with ESC distributor would disabling EGR have anything to do with pinging?

I've heard of it before, but i thought it was because of vacum advanced distributors and EGR changing vacum, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.

The EGR will keep the combustion chambers cooler, so when you do put your foot in the pedal the likelihood of preignition from hot chambers will be diminished. Removing the EGr will increase the chances of preignition and detonation.

Check the article written by GM Tech on the SEThirdGen.org site for full details, but if you do you'll probably decide to keep the EGR fully functional.

If your ECM is not programmed to run without the EGR, then yes, preignition detonation is more likely. Timing can be removed in your chip to run without the EGR.g
