Ultimate tune-up for TPI?

Im making a list of the things i should do to get the most horsies out of what i have..

I thinking about cleaning the fuel injectors since I cant afford to get new ones yet...they havnt been cleaned since the block was put together.

Anyone know how or w/ what I should clean them with? or the process?

also the basic filters and liquids check.

just making a list...everyones two cents is welcome..

IAT (Intake Air Temp)
Ignition Module
Pick-Up Coil
Rapid Fire Sparkplugs
8.8mm plug wires
"Hi-Performance" distributor cap and rotor
Accel Hi-Po Coil
Accel 24# injectors
Both air filters

SDPC2000 H.O. TPI Crate Engine
2.77:1 Gears

1989 Chevy Corvette L98 A4 Black/Black Coupe
Stock 95k miles
3.07:1 Gears

the vette is faster, i guess due to wieght and gearing.

i dont know about the difference in the 24#ers. my old motor had the stock injectors and i put the new injectors on with the new motor. you have 1 oxygen sensor, on the drivers side exaust downpipe just below the exaust manifold. i think they are around 15 bucks.

I switched to the 24lb injectors earlier this week and I'm flooding bad. I am not sure yet what happened as I haven't messed with it yet since. I don't know if I need a new chip or not for the switch but if I had it to do over I think I would have stayed with the stock injectors after a good cleaning and matching from cruzin'.

For a place to start, look at the tech article here entitled "Suggested mods for TPI engines".

There is a place in the chip for injector size. If you change injectors, you should get a custom chip to reflect that change, or you will run rich.

The best deal on injector cleaning is at http://www.cruzinperformance.com/

I have the MSD Digital-6 and it's awesome. I use it in conjuction with my nitrous system for the retard function. I highly recommend MSD 6 series ignitions.

Jeff

BTW: Thanks for the chip info, I'm buying the stuff now for burning my own.

Send the injectors to TPIS, Street & Performance to get them cleaned RIGHT and flow matched. The stock 22# will support well over 400 hp, by adjusting the pressure up.

Send them to TPIS (a company known for their outlandish prices)? Why do that when cruzin' is just fine?

TPS (Throttle Position)
o2 (Oxygen Sensor)
IAT (Intake Air Temp)
Ignition Module
Pick-Up Coil
Accel Hi-Po Coil

I have an idea of what these are and where they are located...

what exactly will upgrading these do?

Im car-tarded mostly...

whats the diff between the coils?

I know ones in the distributor...

and a bad O2 sensor will cause what?

thanks for your help..

Do you still have your original MAF sensor? Was it working when you removed it? Has it been modified at all (screens, etc)? If it's a good, stock, Bosch hot wire MAF, I WANT IT. I removed my screens and wish I hadn't...

The consensus seems to be that removing the screens is a mistake. In some cases it will cause few problems; in some cases it will cause many. Either way, it messes up the calibration and makes tuning more difficult. Apparently, it results in no performance improvement. If your airflow demands are so great that the screens are truly creating a restriction, you need to be looking elsewhere for a solution (aftermarked MAF, switch to speed density, etc.).
