help? a code 54 came up on my ecm

a code 54 is the fuel system problem. i have already replaced my fuel pump relay. but the problem is still there. also my fuel gage has been reading the wrong level since i bought my 87 IROC with 355 tpi. could this be related to my problem of the car beeing jurky at partial throtle or coatsting? Is my fuel pump going bad? please help.

I would first check the fuel pressure. Get yourself a good fuel pressure gauge and check the pressure at the rails. You mentioned replacing the relay....did you change both, or just one? If only one, try moving the new one to the other position (sometimes the harness will get switched over the years).

Then disconnect your battery for a minute to clear all the codes and try it again.

I went thru the same problem a awhile back. I ended up replacing the ecm and it fixed the problem.
