Hi everyone, well I am in a little delema with my mechanic. He dented my stock runners when changing the EGR valve on my 86 IROC. Well needless to say I want that fixed because my car only has 35,000 and I like to take it to shows without dents that I didnt even cause!! So, is there a way to fix a slightly dented runner?? Car is stock and I want to keep it that way, (For now anyway)... Please help!!! I have even looked around for replacements but I cant buy new ones I guess.

It depends on how large the dent is. A small dent may be straightened by passing a brass ball that is slightly smaller (.005) than the inside of the runner through the runner past the dent. While doing this the dent should be massaged with a body hammer. It will make the dent completely unnoticable with the factory finish. A shiny finish will always show any irregularity in the runner.

I was able to push out a small dent with the rounded "ball" that some screwdrivers have on the end of the handle.(depends on how far into the tube the dent is.) If it still shows a little from the outside, try blending it in by lightly brushing with one of those green scouring pads.

I think your mechanic owes you some large tube runners.

A guy a while back said he took his runners to a repair shop for brass instruments. I guess they have to use the same kind of equipment to take the dents out of flutes and saxophones and stuff. They can also polish the stuff up pretty well.
