My dad converted his stock TBI 305 over to stock TPI, and gained 17 HP and 70 TQ at the rear wheels. Its definitely worth it.

lets see here:
1, you will get better gas milage.
2, you will have ~20 more horsepower.
3, your torque will shoot through the roof compaired to tbi.
4, throttle response will beat the hell out of tbi any day.
5, your emissions will be cleaner.
6, it looks a hell of alot cooler than tbi

id say go for it. thats a good price

I would go for it. I did this swap this summer and have no regrets. I would change the cam while you are at it, and remember that you need to change the fuel pump too.

Kev, didn't your dad also use the stock TBI wiring harness just modified (cut/spliced) to run 4 injectors/driver instead of 1?
Just curious, cuz i hate to see TBIers afraid of the swap cuz of a non-existent wiring issue. Of course you'd still have to repin the harness to run the 730 unless you kludge the TBI computer to run it (which IIRC you tried too, eh?)
I just want to get this straight once and for all. We really do need an FAQ building board again...

Yes, my dad repinned his stock TBI harness to use the TPI 7730 computer. We tried to get the TBI intake to use the 7730 computer, but was unsuccessful. The TBI is double fire while the TPI is single fire. The car was way lean. It would run if we put 454 injectors in and pumped the fuel pressure way up, but thats not a good option. So we shelved that idea until we have more time to play with it.

I would do the swap, but I'd give him 200 bucks and then do the swap myself. Also,I am sure that your 89 305 camaro is one of the baddest 89 305 camaros on this board, but do not list the huge white chevy symbol on back as one of your mods. You are getting very close to ***** territory with your large stickers and flamboyant spoiler. Just be careful
