The solution to my problems.. please read
hey all,
I know a bunch of you have seen my posts about my engine idle, pressure issues, etc with my car. my symptoms were as follows: intermittent searching idle (950 to about 1100rpm), poor idle (skipping), for a little while my fuel rail wouldn't hold pressure after shutting off (that kinda cured itself.. whatever injector was stuck came unstuck), etc. I put alot of money into the project last year with new sensors, relays, wires, vacuum hoses, fuel filter. still had a rough idle, etc. this winter i put in a new intake, runners (all edelbrock), rebuilt the tb, etc and STILL had the issues. I had tested my injectors (all @ 16.2-16.3 resistance) with no leaks or anything. finally, after my short bout with my fuel pressure dropping quickly after shut down, i decided to replace my injectors. I did some digging and found fuelinjectorconnection.com selling stuff on ebay, and contacted them (Jon) and asked questions about the fuel system and to see if thats what i needed. I got a set of the corvette/tpi bosche type III flow matched injectors per his suggestion and installed them. ALL MY PROBLEMS ARE GONE. No idle searching, no rough idles or skipping... my idle sits right at 775 in park, and drops to 550-600 in drive... smooth as hell. power has jumped noticeably.
i honestly think that a huge number of the drivability issues on this board regarding idle and fuel efficiency are due to having bad injectors (obviously after you get rid of any vacuum leaks). mine passed the tests I was told about on here and still very obviously didn't work right. I highly recommend buying these injectors from Jon... they are remanufactured, aren't expensive as hell, and have a 3 year warranty! i know how many of you have alot of the problems i had, and still have your 20 year old injectors. seriously, check out www.fuelinjectorconnection.com.. the dude answered a mess of my questions without getting annoyed, gave me step by step instructions on how to install them, and even gave me his number to call anytime if i had questions.
FIC even did a video on youtube that gives a complete demonstration of how each brand of injector works, how each one flows, and what type of injector is good for what application. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Emnax2J4FX4
hope this helps some of you... i am finally able to drive my bird to work with no issues and i can't be any freakin happier (well maybe with a supercharger, but hey... life isn't perfect).

Difficaultie is hard to tell, dont know your mechanicalskill. But if you done some work on the car you might be able to change them in ~5hour, including, cleaing the plenum/runners and IAC passage.
Its not that hard to do it. Just take your time and have a look how it all where sitting. When Ive changed my injectors I took some pictures (I always do that when im changing stuff on my car, and putting it on my homepage)
The text is on Swedish (havent translated it yet) but you can see the pictures how I did it. I will translate later Direct link : http://theking.joakimweb.se/z28/project/accel.htm
