RPM sensitive to moving TPS wires

My old TPS harness was in crap condition so I bought a new harness. I've been noticing when my engine starts to rev higher at idle I can go move the wires (with the harness plugged in) and hear the engine start revving higher. I finally have to just shut it off because I cant get the idle to go lower by moving the wires.

I'm on my second TPS in a year, and have re-connected the wiring harness to the old wires just recently.

Maybe I need to check them again.

Anybody think this is strange?

Did you solder the wires? If not that is what needs to be done, solder and shrink wrapped. Use rosin core solder not acid.

Twisted wires will eventually get wet, corrode, and/or get loose. Then you can spend your time along side of the road, wondering what is wrong and how you will get home and get your car back home. Or pass the hours away trying to find that intermittent trouble, instead of driving.

Everytime I ever took a shortcut on the electrical side of life, it seemed to come back and haunt me.
