Need help with my maf

After purchasing the 25$Tpis book I decided to remover the screens and fins from my maf. After doing so the car threw a code for excessive air flow. I replaced the maf and the problem went away, then I decided to remove just the rear screen and the code returned. Has anyone else had these problems?

I have a feeling its from your 58mm TB

put the stock one back on, then put a screenless MAF on and see what happens for kicks.

I agree....I tried both 58 and 52MM and they threw codes 33 with MAF mods.
The ecm is seeing an unrealstic flow of air into the intake.
My Vette actually ran slower with a 58 and even a 52MM TB...58 is only good for larger cubic inch engines.
It runs harder with the stock 48MM TB.

Another problem with the larger units, is to avoid a code you have to play with the minimum air speed to TPS adjustment until you get it right.
Thats alot of trial and error to avoid codes..been there and done that.

I would suggest you put the stock TB back on, add the ported MAF and tune/set min air and TPS,etc, and go drive it around and see how it feels.
Do a back to back test with the TB's.
For your mods, a 52MM is pushing it already.58 is way too big.
If you find the 58 makes your car scream and pull harder then the stock 48 or even a 52 if you have one for testing, thats a first for me..let us know.

Good Luck and hope you get the bugs worked out.

Holy ****.... you have a 58mm TB! It was probably getting plenty of air with the screens in there... with a 58mm TB I would leave the screens for safety sake, considering you obviously don't need more air.
