If I change out the cam, what all do I need?
I am thinking about getting the LPE 219 cam for my ZZ4 Crate Motor, since I just got the SuperRam. Well, let me rephrase that...I WAS thinking about it, until a guy that works at Lingenfelter said I needed ALL this stuff:
Stainless intake and exhaust valves, 2.00/1.56 dia .100" long 274.95
Titanium retainers 149.95
Double valve springs 114.95
Spring seat cups 26.95
74219 Camshaft 314.95
The longer valves allow you to get the correct installed height without machining the cylinder heads.

On top of that, it's gonna be like $350 for the Rocker Arms! Thats over $1,000 for a cam swap!!! Is this true? What all do I REALLY need to buy? Does anyone know for sure?

All you need to do is match the open and closed pressures for that cam. I have that same cam, and the closed pressure is 140 lbs, and the open pressure is 420 lb.
I didn't use the LPE springs because that 420 open pressure looks high, and I've been told that 385-390 is as much as I need, so I am using different springs. Comp cams has some good ones, I think they are the 913 or 916 springs.
LPE recommends the titanium retainers for their cam, and it is a good investment, but you don't need them if you don't have the cash. They sell and install the longer valves in order to get the 1.900 installed height that their springs call for. That higher installed height also leaves some extra room for piston-valve clearance.
In short, you don't need their springs and longer valves, but I'd get the retainers. You can also get the same stuff cheaper from comp cams. Don't let them talk you into buying that LPE stuff, it's just marked up a little higher.

heres a thought. a lifter runs on the lobe.
the vavle spring presses down as the ramp
lifts the lifter. the spring pressure increases.
progressively geeting worse. pressure on the
cam grows to not turn. now if have to push a
heavy valve to need more spring to pull it back
into place. this culls a thing called float.
if you run a lighter valve, the necessary pressure
to close it doesnt have to be as great. hence
a higher rev and less torsional drag on the
cam. less power to twist the cam.
but at a hell of a cost. lighter is usually more
expensive. are you going to buzz 6000+RPM?
if so, look into better valvetrain.
