TPI 305 Rebuild advice
Hey guys,
Ive asked u guys for help before and all of u were more than happy to give me the honest truth. So this time i wanna ask something that may have been asked before but i was unable to find the direct info for it so i'll ask it anyways!
Ive got an lb9 motor and am interested in possibly rebuilding it with some new forged internals, fast-burn heads and some better than stock components.
Now what im wondering is, if i did all that and added say some good headers, + lt4 cam + better valves + springs and ported the plenums could i overcome the the TPI's inherent weakness in the top-end with some mild boost. If i used a stock plenum or the Miniram or super ram with a Supercharger or a turbo could i actually make up for the restrictive intake?
BtW i know many of you are gonna say that the 305 should be tossed and turned into a boat anchor but really this motor stock makes like 5 ponies less than the 350 u guys cherish so much, prolly has a better cam in it stock too for the 350 of same year =)
And is there anyone thats done this b4, if so what sort of Rwhp could i expect.
Or am i just better off doing an LS1 swap? I'd sooner swap to an LS1 than a 350 as It would cost me nearly as much here in BC.
Thanks in advance and CHEERS!

Re: TPI 305 Rebuild advice
It's my feeling that the TPI intake with a gutted airbox and K&N filters provides enough air for a little 305.
I don't believe that replacing the intake with a different NA intake will do much of anything performance-wise from an "air restriction" point of view. Different intake Runners will change where the powerband is.
Now Supercharging a 305 is a different game. Willie ran a Paxton Supercharger on his 305 with great results. At this point he is bringing it back online with Dual Turbo's instead of the Supercharger!

... that money put into a 350 would give you more hp than a 305... good luck Thread
