ZZ4 cam on a 305 TPI

would a ZZ4 cam work on a modded 305 TPI (heads, exhaust, prted intake etc) what about the LT1 vette or the 350 IROC cam(came stock in my car)

yes, it would work, but isnt your compression
lower than 10:1? to make full advantage of the
ZZ4 cam, no less than 9.6 would be the lowest.
airflow would be the next consideration.
some intake reaming and larger tube runners
would be a must if you are gunna do some high
rpms.

An lt1 cam will work nicely on your 305!!
Anything is better than that stock 305 cam.

The LT1 cam is about the same thing as the cam he has now, only it has more lift. You can accomplish the same thing with less hassle by putting 1.6 roller rockers on. Or you can change the cam to something even bigger.

I need a cam anyway, i am running some truck cams and heads now, i would like to replace the heads with stock 305's that have been ported and polished, then SLP runners and a ported baseplace and plenum. I need a cam to match. Any suggestions? looking for power upto around 5500 if possable. My brand new stock 305 sould handle reving this high repeadedly right?

Instead of buying a stock set of 305 heads, why not look at some World Products 305 torquer heads for about the same price, or a few more bucks. $700 assembled isn't that bad for a pair of heads. You can get them pretty much anywhere, I don't know the cheapest place though.

Later,
Jesse
